تجلّي

Tajalli (تجلّي) is an Arabic term meaning “manifestation,” “revelation,” “disclosure,” or “epiphany”.

تشبيه

Arabic tashbih. Affirmation of similarity to God or anthropomorphism.

It is the opposite of tanzih. God is beyond comprehension, images, and material form, often summarized by the Quranic phrase, “Nothing is like unto Him”.

Islamic theology often seeks a balance, as extreme tanzih can negate God’s attributes, while extreme tashbih can lead to idolatry.
