Rûh

The Arabic word for Rûh is روح, which translates to “spirit” or “soul”. In Islamic, Quranic, and Arabic contexts, Ruh represents the divine breath of life, the immaterial essence of a human being, or a spiritual entity. It is distinct from nafs (the ego or self) and often signifies the soul’s immortal, godly connection.
