Parsis are an ethnic and religious community in India and Pakistan who follow Zoroastrianism. They are descendants of Persians who fled to the region to escape religious persecution after the Arab conquest of Persia. The term “Parsi” is derived from the Persian word meaning “Persian” or “inhabitant of Pārs (Persia)”.
