Dukkar

(Tib., “white parasol”). A female deity in Buddhism, the Protectress of humanity, known in Sanskrit as Sitatapatra; the Mother of the World. She is depicted with a thousand hands, which represent the rays of her aura, and on each palm of her hand-rays an open eye is depicted as a symbol of all-seeing and all-helping mercy. She is also depicted beneath an umbrella, which is a symbol of gathering moisture, or Supreme Grace.
